ABOUT Pine Mountain

Flying Conditions

Pine Mountain is one of the most versatile flying sites in America. With more than 8 launches on every aspect of the mountain, we can fly in every wind direction and in all kinds of conditions. The site record is 370 kilometers. Cross-country flights have been had in every direction from this mountain for more than 50 years. This is not a random hill. This is a world-class site.

Perfect Glassoff

At pine, we get the gliders out on the ground and kite them up the hill to launch. Not boring kiting on flat grass. building real handling skills in real dynamic conditions on the way to your flight. A week of this kind of ground handling is worth more than 5 SIVs. This is not a drill that’s disconnected from flying reality. This is handling your glider in real life.

Once you’re in the air, expect perfect soaring conditions, epic sunsets, and the ability to fly until long after the sun goes down.

The Land

We’re camping on private property at the foot of Pine Mountain — an 80-acre property that has been one of the hubs of America’s free flight community for more than 40 years. This is where the Pine Mountain Fly-In was hosted for 27 consecutive years. Three cabins, a campground that accommodates 250 people, and a heritage that is palpable in everything you see and feel here.

The mountain views are insane. It’s incredibly quiet, peaceful, secluded, tranquil. There’s an observatory just up the hill because the night sky is so dark here — the stars are profound. Nature is raw and undisturbed. This is a place where people reset. Where they reconnect. the kind of quiet that lets you actually hear yourself think.

All-inclusive Camp Life

You’ll stay at the property in camping or cabin accommodations. The campground is spacious, the cabins are comfortable, and the setting is unlike anything you’ve experienced.

If you fly in, we’ll provide a shared cabin or camping eqpt, tent pitched for you. If you drive your van or camper, there’s epic spots for you.

All of your food is covered. And this is not cheap hot dogs and hamburgers. We’re talking USDA choice beef, organic vegetables, hardwood-fired barbecues. We’ll use camaraderie and teamwork to prepare our meals together — camp vibes, shared cooking, the way it should be. There will be some kitchen assistance, but in general, we’ll work as a crew to eat how we want to eat.

GUIDES

Ari Delashmutt

Founder

Ari has been a professional action sports athlete his entire adult life. More than 12 years of paragliding, over 3,000 flight hours across 16 countries on 5 continents. World records in highlining. He chased acrobatics early on, then got hooked on cross-country after his first 115km flight — acro harness, no flight instrument, no food or water, no idea what he was doing. He’s been chasing XC and competition flying ever since.

But Ari isn’t just a pilot. He’s a men’s coach and group facilitator who has spent years doing deep personal development work — studying Nonviolent Communication and conscious leadership. He brings all of this to the mountain. The mindset work, the emotional intelligence, the ability to create a space where men are welcome to open up, connect, and grow — that’s what separates this from every other clinic you’ve been to.

Ari teaches the mental game that is imperative for pilots to stay safe and keep progressing in their careers. This is instruction for the whole pilot, not just the technical side.
